About the artist and his artworkBorn on March 30 1853, Vincent van Gogh was a Dutch painter and illustrator, inspired by Impressionism and Pointillism, which heralded Fauvism and Expressionism. Produced in 1889, this work is one of a series of three similar canvases painted in the south of France, now in the National Gallery in London.
